Description
Paul Manship Duck Girl of 1911, a lyrical bronze of a young girl classically draped, and with some strategic undraping, strides gracefully with a duck in one hand. It is an early work by the same sculptor who designed the Aero Memorial for Logan Square, and best known for his Prometheus in New York Rockefeller Center.
Currently the statue is located at Rittenhouse Square, near 18th street and Walnut Street, Philadelphia. It was originally installed in Cloverly Park in 1916. Then in 1956 it was placed storage. The sculpture won the Widener Gold Medal, from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in 1914
